Jökulsárlón is a glacier lagoon and a must visit destination when in Iceland. At Jökusárlón spectacular, luminous icebergs float through the still glacier lagoon on their way to the sea. During winter time seals fill the lagoon adding even more to its charm. Contrary to what most might think the lagoon is actually no more than 80 years old, result of retreating glaciers.
Jökulsárlón is located in the south of Iceland between Skaftafell and Höfn. The drive from Reykjavík is aproximately 4 hours and 30 minutes following the Ring Road east. We highly recommend heading south to check it out. The south part of Iceland has many must visit destinations in a close range to Jökulsárlón, so if in the are you definetly should also check out Skógarfoss, Seljalandsfoss, Skaftafell and Sólheimajökull.
