Iceland boasts of a vast number of waterfalls and Svartifoss undoubtedly is a runner-up in the most beautiful waterfall in Iceland contest. Located in Skaftafell in Vatnajökull National Park it is one of the most popular sights in the park. It takes a small hike to get up to it but it is much more that worth it. Surrounded by beautiful basalt columns it really is a must see when in the area.
To get to Skaftafell from Reykjavík is fairly easy as you just basically just drive the main road (Þjóðvegur 1) straight east. The drive takes around 4 hours and if driving during winter we remind you to always check road conditions and safety.
