Did you know that there are more than 20 different species of whales in the waters around Iceland? According to Ice Whale the long daylight during summer, shallow waters and the two mixing currents that come from the cold Arctic sea and the warmer north Atlantic Ocean that create favourable feeding area for the whales.
The Humpback whale, pictured above, is one of those majestic mammals. Fully grown Humpback whales weigh about 36,000 kg and range in length from 12-16 m. It can be found in oceans around the world and are commonly seen on whale watching tours in north Iceland during summer.
